Talladega and Bankhead National Forests

The Bankhead National Forest comprises 180,00 acres in northwest Alabama, and the Talladega comprises 228,600 acres in east central Alabama. These national forests are part of the Southern Appalachian ecosystem. These forests contain some of Alabama's last wild places and can serve as controls to evaluate and enhance forest management. They provide home to more than 80 percent of the vertebrates and plants native to the region, and some globally rare, endangered or threatened species as well.

For more information contact Alabama Environmental Council, Wildsouth or the Alabama Forest Service.
