Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests

The Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests are two of North Carolina's National Forests and are located in the Southern Appalachian region. The Nantahala is approximately 531,341acres and the Pisgah is 506,920 acres. Together they total more than one million acres of forested, mountainous land in western North Carolina

Because of their location with in the SouthernAppalachian region, the Nantahala and Pisgah national forests form an integral part of the overall ecosystem.They feature some of the finest wild area in the Southeast. By being cognizant of these Appalachian treasures, and their inherent values, we will all be better able to take care of them in the future.
