Cherokee National Forest
The Cherokee encompasses 640,000 acres and stretches from Chattanooga to Bristol along the North Carolina border. It is the largest tract of public land in Tennessee, and is at the center of the Southern Appalachian National Forests.
The Cherokee includes remote areas as wild and remote as any, and some of the most isolated and unfragmented Fores Servic lands in the eastern US. It is a companion to the Great Smoky National Park, and is home to more than 2,000 plants and animals.
