Dear Senator Webb,
As a resident of Virginia , I am writing to thank you for helping to facilitate the introduction of the Virginia Ridge and Valley Act ( S. 570 / H.R. 1011 ). As you know, this important bill would protect 43,000 acres of national forest land as Wilderness and another 12,000 acres as National Scenic Areas.
This bill will help ensure the long-term vitality of natural and economic resources; clean water; habitat preservation; and will direct the U.S. Forest Service to establish and maintain trails for hiking, hunting, fishing, and other non-motorized recreation. The bill is widely supported by businesses, tourism interests, faith groups, recreation groups, citizens, and other local organizations.
It is my hope that the passage of The Virginia Ridge and Valley Act is fulfilled as quickly as possible. Thank you again for supporting the people of Virginia by having the wisdom to protect our last remaining wilderness lands for future generations.
