SAFC’s Member Groups boast the best and brightest conservation leaders in our region, representing national, regional, and grassroots organizations spanning the six states of Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
APPALACHIAN VOICES - Working to protect and restore Appalachian forest ecosystems and communities by affecting public policy in relation to clean air, coal mining, public lands, and private forestry.
CHEROKEE FOREST VOICES - The leading organization in East Tennessee to address issues related to the management of the Cherokee National Forest.
CLINCH COALITION - Changing the way the US Forest Service (USFS) manages the Jefferson National Forest in the High Knob area.
FOREST SERVICE EMPLOYEES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ETHICS - A partnership between Forest Service employees and concerned citizens working to safeguard our national forests for the public interest.
GEORGIA FOREST WATCH - Established to monitor the management and impacts to the Chattahoochee and Oconee National Forests and other publicly owned lands in north and central Georgia, and to add to these lands from willing sellers.
SIERRA CLUB - Work through its constituent chapters to celebrate, protect, and restore the biodiversity of the Southern Appalachian Highlands, and to educate the public about this valuable historic and natural resource.
SOUTH CAROLINA FOREST WATCH - Working for the protection and restoration of South Carolina's native forest communities.
SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN BIODIVERSITY PROJECT - A regional citizens organization dedicated to the defense and restoration of the native biodiversity of Southern Appalachia.

that is leading several broad-based, regional conservation initiatives
to strengthen environmental protection laws and policies throughout
the South and beyond.
THE WILDERNESS SOCIETY - Works to protect America’s wilderness and to develop a nation-wide network of wild lands through public education, scientific analysis and advocacy.
VIRGINIA FOREST WATCH - A grass-roots based coalition of individuals and environmental groups working to maintain and restore the natural ecology and biodiversity of woodlands across Virginia through education and citizen participation.
WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA ALLIANCE - A grassroots organization addressing critical environmental issues facing our mountain communities - issues that have local, regional, state, and national impact.
WILD SOUTH - Wild South works at reversing the exploitation and mindless destruction of our national treasures.
WILDLAW - A non-profit environmental law firm. WildLaw represents more than 100 national, regional and local groups fighting to protect the environment of the East.

NATIONAL FOREST PROTECTION ALLIANCE - dedicated to the proposition that grassroots forest protection activists nationwide can organize themselves into a power-base to achieve positive, lasting social and environmental change.
NORTH CAROLINA AUDUBON SOCIETY Conserving and restoring natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and North Carolina's biological diversity.
STOP I-3 COALITION The Stop I-3 Coalition is a grassroots organization composed of individuals, local civic groups, regional and national conservation groups. The group's mission is to preserve and protect the unique heritage and environment of Southern Appalachia and nearby Piedmont communities by promoting sustainable transportation practices.
SOUTHWINGS - Uses small engine aircraft to view form the air our region’s highest-valued natural areas. With this aerial perspective, communities are able to document environmental damage to their streams, forests, and quality of their air.
VIRGINIA WILDERNESS COMMITTEE - a citizens' organization dedicated to the preservation of Virginia's natural heritage.
WILD VIRGINIA - a grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and promotion of all that is natural, wild, and free in the central Appalachians.
